“I’ve always been an admirer of everything culinary since I was a little kid,” Shihan reflects. “Cooking became an essential part of my life; it was like therapy for me.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, Shihan began sharing his cooking experiments on social media under the moniker “Chili Pepper Cooks.” The name pays homage to the Thai chili pepper, or “kacha morich,” a staple in Bangladeshi cuisine. “I always try to bring a little bit of Bangladesh into my recipes,” Shihan explains. “The Thai chili pepper is the most commonly used ingredient in Bangladeshi cuisine, and it represents my appreciation of the ingredients and culture.”

Shihan’s culinary style is characterized by creative fusion, where he reimagines traditional dishes with unconventional ingredients. His inventive approach has led to viral recipes, such as using Potato Crackers to create a spicy, crunchy coating for deep-fried chicken

“Sticking to traditional methods is not really doing something new,” Shihan asserts. “I want the food I cook to be unique while sticking to its roots.”
